John started teaching at Haas Family Golf on February 26, 2023. He was introduced to golf by his father Jack at 10 years old and started caddying at 12 years old under Vern Fraser. BBA in General Marketing from Western Michigan University in 1980.

Building on 20 years golf experience in the following roles: caddy, bag room & cart attendant, Assistant Golf Professional, Golf Academy Director and Head Professional. Served private & public facilities in IL, CA, TX and SC. Golf experiences came from the following facilities and mentors:

• Westmoreland Country Club, Wilmette, IL – Mentor: Vern Fraser.
• The Springs Club, Rancho Mirage, CA – Mentor: Doug Hart.
• The Club at Morningside, Rancho Mirage, CA – Mentors Vern Fraser & Claude Harmon.
• River Oaks Country Club, Houston, TX – Mentor: Dick Harmon.
• Bear Creek Golf World, Houston, TX – Mentor: Roger Parker.
• Greenville Country Club, Greenville, SC – Mentor: Paul Voyer.
• Haas Family Golf, Greenville, SC – Mentors: Carolyn Echols & John Gerring.

Elected Class A PGA Professional in February 1991. John exited the golf industry in 1997 to help raise their son, Jonathan, with his wife Jamie. John was reinstated with the Professional Golfers Association on April 14, 2023, with an emphasis on teaching.

Passions include memories made with his family, friends & students, game nights, movies, photography, politics, the learning process, nature and “Da Bears”!

Instruction Style
